Anglo-Moorish Style Mashrabiya Table Attributed to Liberty & Co

SOLD

A distinctive Anglo-Moorish style walnut two tiered table with mashrabiya beaded panels to both tiers.

Some marks commensurate with age but has a wonderfully rich patina, with very minor loss to the beaded panelling.

Most likely retailed by Liberty & Co in around 1890. The splayed legs with turned details, united by the lower shelf is a design influenced by the Aesthetic Movement, very much infused with Liberty’s “Moresque” style, evident in the tables featured on page 67 of their Handbook of Sketches (1889).
