A pair of fine quality Syrian side chairs in dark stained hardwood. Richly decorated with beadwork turnings (known as mashrabiya) and finials to the back, and to the wide frieze below the seat front and sides. Raised on turned pad feet.

Very well executed pieces, attributed to Liberty & Co, London, retailer, circa 1890; examples of similar style featuring in their Art Furniture catalogue (1884) and Handbook of Sketches (1889 and 1890 issues).

Restored and reupholstered in a vibrant red melange fabric with stud detail.
