A compact Ottoman side table of characteristic octagonal form. The top is finished in ebony, chequered stringing and inlaid mother of pearl (nacre) banding; the central design beautifully inset with mother of pearl and tughra emblem enclosed in an eight point star. This was a calligraphic insignia or seal of the reigning Sultan. The geometric base is decorated with ebony and square mother of pearl mosaic panels over Moorish arched heads extending to form the eight legs.
Fine condition, with a lovely patina.
