An original late 1920s lithographic French rail travel poster for the PLM (Paris, Lyon, Mediterranee) Railway, depicting the entrance to the port of La Rochelle in South West France.
Stamped “Affiche a apposer dans les gares ou bureaux de ville gérés directement par les agents des chemins de fer de l’ état” – “Poster to be posted in stations or town offices managed directly by state railway agents.”
Signed E. Paul Champseix (1890-1983); printed by Lucien Serre & Cie, 19 Rue du Terrage, Paris, who produced many vibrant travel posters of the period. #167 collection / catalogue number at bottom right hand corner.
Presented in a modern light oak frame, the piece has been lined with conservation paper, with some restorations to corners etc.
