Cabinets & Storage

SOLD

A handsome Arts and Crafts student bureau in solid quarter sawn oak. Having a fall front with beautiful Art Nouveau influenced brass strap hinges and handle, beneath a three quarter gallery with fret cut back rail. Opens to reveal a fitted interior with pigeonholes, pen tray and original green baize lined aperture for an ink pot. Two shelved open bookcase base, raised on shaped bracket feet.

Very much in the style of Liberty & Co and Harris Lebus, with a deep, rich colour. Practical for use in the modern home, the opened bureau being large enough to accommodate a laptop!

Faint evidence of old staining to the top and original ink stains to the area around the pen tray only enhance the character of this solid, quality piece.

English, early 1900s.
