A beautifully made Aesthetic Movement ebonised octagonal table of generous size, in the style of Gillow & Co.

Ebony veneered rosewood, with burr walnut and inlaid holly banding to the top. Incised gilded decorative motif to the centre. Raised on four out-swept ebonised sabre legs with matching satinwood and holly inlaid borders and canted carved toes, forming a plinth with central decorative urn from which rise four supporting pillars, all adorned with parcel gilt stringing. Original porcelain castors.

Some age-related scuffs and a small area of repaired damage to the top do not detract from what is a superb quality table of fine proportions and exceedingly good craftsmanship, typical of the Aesthetic Movement of the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
