Equine and Canine Portraits
Working in oils and charcoal, and predominately on canvas, I enjoy portraying contemporary British country life and pets. I seek to produce paintings that are representational and contemporary, with a colourful feel.
Born in the New Forest, I spent my early years on long walks in all weathers with my beloved dog Murphy, or hacking across the countryside on my flea bitten grey New Forest pony Bluey. It is these experiences that led me to a life long passion for all wildlife.
Mornings before school and after school until the sun went down were spent at the local stables mucking out, grooming and riding, with Murphy always by my side.
My first memory of drawing was illustrating a story book (The Adventures of Bluey), as part of a school project. With my step father being a keen racing fan, I spent much time visiting Cheltenham Races, always with my camera in hand. I now enjoy depicting the beautiful colours of jockeys’ silks on canvas.
I have travelled extensively, living abroad and painting commissions of pets as I went. My portraits feature on the walls of homes in Thailand, New Zealand and Australia and I’ve exhibited as far afield as Hong Kong.
Now settled in leafy South West London, I’m lucky enough to spend my days painting in my garden studio, with my gorgeous whippet Archie keeping me company.
