Kevin M.A. Cunningham
Portrait Painter
I was born on the West Coast of Scotland and studied Illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art, Dundee. One of my most treasured items is my easel, which was a gift from my parents. I went on to illustrate books and magazines for publishers Pan Books, Faber & Faber and Haymarket Publications amongst others. I now live and work in Ascot, Berkshire.
My portraits (of humans) have been exhibited in the BP Portrait Awards at the National Portrait Gallery on several occasions (winning 2nd Prize in 1997), the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Scottish Portrait Awards in Edinburgh. My work is often an homage to my artistic heroes Vincent van Gogh, Michelangelo and Vermeer.
