Mixed media artist
What I paint
I consider myself predominantly a landscape artist. I seek to capture the tonal contrasts and textures of the landscapes and villages of the places I love, through Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, North Wales, the Malverns, the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall.
Why I paint
After leaving full time education, I worked for ten years in industry, creating three dimensional prototypes. I always had a passionate interest in art, and meanwhile pursued painting with watercolour as a hobby. In 1988, I decided to paint full time and since then, I've devoted myself to studying and capturing the atmosphere of the British countryside, developing my technical abilities and my own particular style.
How I paint
My interest developed in textured mixed media work, which enables me to take my tonal contrasts to the next level. Using textured papers, collage, watercolour, inks and thickly layered acrylic paints, I enjoy producing landscapes with vibrant colours.
