What I draw

The treescapes of the beautiful countryside that I feel privileged to live in. One of my favourite spots is Croome Court, close to my home in Worcestershire. I'm often to be found there, happily sketching in all weathers.

Why I draw

It all started at the age of seven (over seventy years ago) when my uncle, who was an artist of the Royal Academy, used to take me along when he went out painting in the Delamere Forest in Cheshire. As he painted, I played about with a pen and I have done so ever since!

How I draw

My work is almost always begun en plein air (out of doors), with the final detail and washes applied back home in my studio.
