I make crystal glazed porcelain, hand thrown on the wheel; focusing on large bowls and vases, the shape of which compliment the jewel like quality of the crystalline glaze.
I enjoy creating large, bold forms that are functional yet unique. I have returned to ceramics following a successful 30 year career in policing, which culminated in becoming the Chief Constable of Wiltshire. When I retired, the call to return to pottery was irresistible, having taught ceramics and undertaken a throwing apprenticeship at Prinknash Abbey in my younger days.
The crystalline glazes I use add to the individuality and uniqueness of each piece, created by the crystal formation in the molten glaze. The glazes are unpredictable and mesmerising; creating differing combinations of shape and colour at every firing.
